Sodium gluconate is the sodium salt of gluconic acid, produced by fermentation of glucose. It is a white to tan, granular to fine, crystalline powder, very soluble in water. Non corrosive, non-toxic and readily biodegradable (98 % after 2 days), sodium gluconate is more and more appreciated as chelating agent.
Sodium gluconate is widely used in industry. It can be used as a high-efficiency chelating agent, steel surface cleaning agent, glass cleaning agent in the construction, textile printing and dyeing, metal surface treatment and water treatment industries, and as a high-efficiency retarder in the concrete industry.
Sodium gluconate is a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid type buffering scale inhibitor with excellent corrosion and scale inhibition performance.
