The National School of Ceramics started as a project to build a new space for preserving, creating, innovating, researching and teaching about ceramic at the heart of Mexican tradition.

The goal is to save the rich tradition of Mexican ceramists, acknowledge the artistic value of their work and take it to the future through the formation and consolidation of new generations of artists, thus projecting Mexico as an important producer of quality ceramic worldwide.

This school will be settled in the Tapalpa municipality of Jalisco. This is a strategic location not only because of its beauty and natural resources, with important clay quarries, but because of the cultural richness of the region, with a rooted ceramist tradition

The El Ticuz hotel will temporarily host the National School of Ceramics.

The urban planning of the project promotes the respect for the environment and it is searching to build a sustainable space that considers the vision and participation of the inhabitants of the area to incorporate them to the social, cultural and economic activity of the school.

The school contemplates the construction of infrastructure in the following areas:

The school will offer formation with a constructivist teaching process, fostering a horizontal relation between students and teachers, as well as a critical and avant-garde vision of the ceramic work. The students will be guided by a faculty comprised of recognized professors, both Mexican and foreign, which will accompany them through their formative process with experience and knowledge.

The school will have the Institute for Ceramological Research, which, under technological, academic, scientific and aesthetic requirements and necessities, will produce knowledge related to the innovation, design and development of traditional ceramic, as well as a scientific approach to the ceramics sphere in Mexico.

The school will give guidance to the ceramists concerning the profitable commercialization of their work. Likewise, it will offer a distribution model in cooperative stores located in the main tourist destinations in the country and, in the future, abroad.
