First, I would like to briefly describe who we are and what we do. Detroit Logistics Company is a privately-owned and asset-based logistics provider concentrating in warehousing, distribution, transportation, express/ground carrier shipping, desktop delivery, liftgate delivery, just-in-time delivery, and same day delivery. Our value-added services include pallet, mixed case or loose shipping, pick and pack, and kitting. We have a customized inventory system and build-to-suit capabilities for office and manufacturing operations. We also engage in importing and exporting and customs clearance.We are strategically located with in a few miles of the Ambassador Bridge, Port of Detroit, Metro and City International Airports, and all major Expressways. We are also in the process of becoming a bonded warehouse and have made alliances with Logistical Providers in China, India, Canada, and Mexico. Our company is family owned and operated and my Father-in-Law who has been in the transportation and warehousing business for 35 years. Our current clients include Zerox, HP, State of Michigan, International Paper, Detroit Public Schools, and Laser Printer Solutions. We also own Cordell Transportation Company, which is headquartered in Dayton Ohio, serving GM and automotive parts suppliers in the Midwest with a fleet of 200 trucks making round-trip deliveries.Many of our clients find it much more profitable and efficient to purchase in large quantities (economies of scale) and allow Detroit Logistics Company to receive, inventory, and deliver products locally as directed. Other clients find that outsourcing these services once operated in-house relieves them of the overhead involved in owning their own warehouse or using much more expensive office space for inventory. Moreover, business owners can concentrate on expanding their business/markets in this challenged economy while Detroit Logistics Company manages their inventory, storage, and distribution.
